Our Medical Intensive care Unit is located at Henri Mondor Hospital in Créteil, and belongs to the large network of Greater Paris public hospitals (Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris). Our missions include care to the critically ill, education and research. Around 1000 patients are admitted each year in the 24 beds of the department, and about 40% of them require mechanical ventilation for at least 24 hours. We are involved in the national fellowship program for intensive care medicine graduation. Our research activity is kept active and dynamic, and results in about twenty international original publications each year. It emphases on organ failures complicating sepsis, with a special focus on circulatory and respiratory failure. Our approach is translational with physiological research at the bedside, complemented with upstream basic research (including bench and small animal experiments) and downstream randomized controlled trials.
